Tetsubin ironware from Japan warms evenly and is known for great heat retention. The Tetsubin and ironware tea sets on this website have a protective coating on the inside of the teapot and teacups to prevent rusting. They might also have the stresses, misfortunes and insecurities of being human; however, for the most part, they lead noteably comfortable and happy lives. They each were known by one another and most likely they have lived there for some time, playing their integral roles and parts in their home town.
One of the things that we found most intriguing is how they all seemed to have an abundance of dishes, cups, bottles and plates. More strikingly than that was the fact that most all of them were beautiful. We learned that many of them are made by local artisans that are very well known for their craftsmanship and trade.
Not only an experience of sensory overload from the sight of beautiful forests, scenic mountain views and architectural marvels. We also saw skillfully sculpted wine drinking sets and incredibly artistic and unique sake drinking cups.

Wood Carving
Okimono are decorative figurines that are carved from various kinds of materials. Some of our favorites are made from hardwood. There are many made from Boxwood, Teakwood, Mammoth Ivory, Bone, and Tagua Nut. The figurines are very detailed and intricate, requiring highly skilled artisans to craft them.
Netsuke are slightly smaller in size then that of Okimono. Generally, they are less than three inches and have two holes through them to be worn like a pendant on a necklace or similar to the Ojime of an Inro. Ojime are usually about one inch and have amazing detail. Ojime similar to Netsuke can be worn on a necklace or attached to an Inro.
An Inro is a box that can be attached to a belt. They are made from different kinds of wood or bone and have one to three compartments for carrying various items.
In Japan and throughout Asia, Okimnono, Netsuke, Ojime and Inro are a tradition and inspiration for many ages.
